Let us remind you what happened:
Police say a 28-year-old man has been arrested in South Yorkshire on suspicion of murdering Ann Widdecombe.
“The suspect, a white British national, is currently in police custody,” Devon and Cornwall Police said in a statement.
Widdecombe, a former Conservative minister turned UK reform spokesman, was found dead with serious injuries at her home in Haytor, Devon, at 11.40am BST on Thursday. Police believe she was attacked almost 24 hours ago.
The 26-year-old was arrested earlier in Newton Abbot, 11 miles (18km) away, on suspicion of murder and was later released on Saturday, after which police said he was “no longer involved in the investigation”.
The latest arrest took place at an address in South Yorkshire, about 270 miles (430 km) from Widdecombe’s Devon property, police said.
