President Donald Trump said this afternoon that despite the heat, the crowd in the nation’s capital on the Fourth of July was “INBELIEVABLE!”
“Despite the heat, which is not as bad as predicted, the crowds in Washington are INCREDIBLE! The love for our country has never been greater! The air shows are at a level never seen before – What great pilots, what great equipment!!!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He also shared his speech tonight, writing, “See you later! Speech around 10:00 pm at the Lincoln Memorial.”
The president is expected to talk about the founding of the country, highlight what he believes makes America exceptional and tout his accomplishments in office, according to a senior White House official.
Trump recently dismissed any concerns about the heat preventing him from making remarks.
“On the Fourth of July the temperature will be about 107 degrees and I’m going to give a very long speech,” he said earlier this week. “Just to show that I can do anything.”
The president has been criticized for turning events marking the 250th anniversary of America’s founding into a platform for personal promotion. He previously said today’s celebration will include a “TRUMP RALLY” in addition to a tribute to America.
