Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston announced the end of their popular TV show Morning Warsas it is known in Australia.
In a joint statement, as well as in separate posts on social media, the actresses and producers of the series confirmed that the upcoming fifth season will be their last.

The news comes after eight years of working together on the show, one of the first when Apple TV streaming first launched in 2019, leaving the couple in tears as they filmed their final scenes together.
The drama tells the story of breakfast TV anchors and journalists Bradley Jackson (Witherspoon) and Alex Levy (Aniston) as they navigate their stressful jobs and the internal politics of their news organization.
Witherspoon, who also has a TV series Elle on rival streaming service Prime – shared a video clip from the set of the drama, which also features co-stars Mark Duplass and Billy Crudup.
“8 years. 5 seasons. So many memories,” she captioned the post, adding, “Can’t wait for you to see the final season.”

In the video’s lyrics for the show’s theme song, Witherspoon wrote, “You’re only as good as the people you work with and wow, how lucky am I to work with the best?!”
“Thank you to every cast and crew member who brought this story to life.”
The 50-year-old actor promised that the fifth and final season will be “intense and dramatic.”
Meanwhile, Aniston, 57, shared a carousel of photos and videos from the set of her last season with the caption, “Laughing and crying.”
In a more formal statement, Aniston said that knowing the show was coming to an end rather than suddenly being cut gave them the opportunity to end it the way they wanted.

“We knew this would be our last film, and we were very lucky that we were able to make a purposeful conclusion and give these characters the justice they deserve,” she said.
Witherspoon called the role “the honor of a lifetime” and “the privilege of my career.”
“The last nine years of producing and playing morning show (as they call it in the US) were the honor of a lifetime,” she said.
“It’s always been more than a show about the newsroom—it’s been a show about why newsrooms matter. It’s about freedom of the press and journalists who defend the fourth estate, often at great cost.”

Fellow executive producer Michael Ellenberg praised his co-stars and co-stars for their work.

The award-winning show will end on the streaming service in 2027.
