Rain cools Indore after two weeks, daytime temperature drops to 27°C | Indore News

Indore: Light rain on Tuesday brought much-needed relief to Indore after nearly two weeks of hot and humid conditions resulting in a sharp drop in daytime temperatures. The maximum temperature dropped to 27 degrees Celsius, about five degrees lower than the previous day and two degrees below normal.The change in weather was caused by a new system developing over the Bay of Bengal which increased the humidity levels over Madhya Pradesh. Cloudy conditions prevailed in the city throughout the day, with intermittent rain recorded in several areas, leading to colder temperatures.Indore received 4.9mm rainfall on Tuesday, according to the weather department. The minimum temperature was recorded at 23.8 degrees Celsius. The drop in maximum temperatures brought relief to residents who had been dealing with uncomfortable humidity during the prolonged drought.Light showers were also reported in nearby areas including Mhow, Betma, Pithampur, Depalpur, Hathod and Gautampura. Weather experts said the new system over the Bay of Bengal is likely to maintain high humidity levels, which will contribute to rainfall in the region.Indore received significant rainfall in the first week of July, but the city remained largely dry for nearly 14 days thereafter.The India Meteorological Department has predicted an increase in rainfall in the last week of July. While the current system may bring isolated showers to the region, the rainfall is expected to be more widespread as monsoon activity intensifies in Madhya Pradesh.
