One of Amazon’s biggest action films, released earlier this year, is back to prove its success was no fluke. The film will premiere in January. It stars Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa as two estranged brothers who reunite to solve the mystery of their father’s death. Upon its debut, the action-comedy hybrid immediately became one of the most popular films on streaming, and now, six months later, it is once again wreaking havoc on Prime Video.
Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista bring laughs in Amazon’s hit action film
Directed by Angel Manuel Soto (blue beetle) and written by Jonathan Tropper (Star Wars: Starfighter), Wrecking Crew Momoa plays Johnny Hale, a suspended Oklahoma police detective, and Bautista plays James Hale, a US Navy SEAL. After years of silence, the estranged duo are forced to reunite when their father, a private investigator, is killed in an accident in Hawaii.
Of course, this was no ordinary accident, and the Hale brothers soon found themselves embroiled in a conspiracy involving the yakuza, corrupt officials, and a powerful developer trying to seize protected land to build a casino. Putting their differences aside, Johnny and James do right by their father, battling waves of enemies before bringing those responsible for his death to justice.
Also starring Claes Bang, Temuera Morrison, Morena Baccarin, Stephen Root, Jacob Batalon and Frankie Adams. Wrecking Crew The film has a running time of 122 minutes, and while that may seem long for an action comedy, there are enough shootouts, hand-to-hand combat, car chases and explosions to make the time fly by.
Once it’s over, you’ll no doubt be left wanting more, as Bautista and Momoa’s first on-screen collaboration was definitely worth the wait. Reminiscent of the buddy cop films of the 80s and 90s, its comedic banter throughout the film helped it achieve success a few months ago and is undoubtedly one of the reasons why it is being seen again on streaming sites.
‘Wrecking Crew’ is officially one of the biggest action movies on streaming
The Prime Video premiere will take place on January 28th. Wrecking Crew became a huge hit for Amazon MGM Studios as the action film topped the charts worldwide, making it a true global hit. It held the number one spot for a while before it was eventually dethroned, and after a few months it fell off the charts in favor of newer films such as Hail Mary Project, Sheep detectivesAnd Jack Ryan: Ghost War.
At the same time, Wrecking Crew Last week saw a massive resurgence on Prime Video, with the hit action movie ranked No. 9 on the Top 10 Prime Original Movies (English and Non-English) worldwide from July 6 to July 12. Other films included on the list were two action films starring Jason Statham. Beekeeper And working manas well as a sci-fi thriller by Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, Mercywhich is also enjoying newfound success on streaming. Next up for Bautista is Avatar Aang: The Last Airbenderin which he will voice the role of Tagi. Look for one that opens July 25th. As for Momoa? He will appear next in Street fighter And Dune: Part Threeboth of which will hit theaters later this year.
