The grand champion will be crowned on Sunday.
It’s the final round of the 2026 Open, with Sam Burns leading by two shots after 54 holes as he seeks his major breakthrough at Royal Birkdale in Southport, England. But there are a few more big names in the lineup Sunday, including Bryson DeChambeau, Si Woo Kim, Ludwig Aberg and Tommy Fleetwood.

Cam Young placed 9 fewer spots to lead the club
After his tee shot hits the bunker and his second shot hits the face, Cam Young fails to hit the greenside bunker to save par. He made bogey on the closing 18th and would shoot 9 under after a final-round 64. Si Woo Kim is now back in the lead alone at 10 under with 10 holes to play.
Cameron Young has reached the age of 10
With seven birdies through 17 holes, Cameron Young is tied for the lead with one hole to play. Can he post 10 less? Or perhaps better? This will give each course participant a number that they know they need to achieve.
Si Woo Kim leads solo at The Open
Xi Woo is now a solo leader for children under 10 years old. He birdied the sixth hole to take a one-hole lead over Sam Burns, Cameron Young and Ryan Fox.
Four-way tie for lead
Sam Burns misses consecutive holes 4-5 and drops to 9 under. He currently shares the lead among four with Ryan Fox, Si Woo Kim and Cameron Young.
Robert McIntyre received a Code of Conduct warning
The R&A issued another Code of Conduct warning, this time to Robert McIntyre for hitting him with a club several times during the final round.
Scotty Scheffler and Tommy Fleetwood move up to under 8s
The pursuers are pursuing. Scotty Scheffler finally got a longer look for birdie, fell on the par-3 12th and moved to 8 under. Tommy Fleetwood hits a close putt at the eighth and repays it with a birdie and he’s fired up. The crowd is huge, following Southport. They are both two behind Burns.
Cameron Young is within one
The birdie on the 14th went to Cameron Young and the fourth to Sam Burns. Burns is 10 years younger, while Young and Ryan Fox are 9 years in hiding.

Burns moves to 11 under to remain two ahead of Fox after both pairs made birdies in the second round. Burns’ approach missed by less than 5 feet.
Sam Burns starts with par
The leaders are in and Sam Burns has a comfortable two-stroke par to start. He remains two ahead of Cameron Young, Si Woo Kim and Ryan Fox. Additionally, Bones dribbles a basketball on the Royal Birkdale fairways to show how strong they are.
73 feet for Tommy Fleetwood in the first stage
He’s too far behind, right? Well, not if he keeps drowning like this. What a bomb for Tommy Fleetwood to start the final round.
Cameron Young will leave at 29 years old.
What an incredible start for Cameron Young. Ahead at 5-under 29, he is 8 under and just two behind Sam Burns.
Scotty Scheffler starts birdie
While Cameron Young has now birdied four of his first five holes, Scotty Scheffler made both of his first approach shots from 5 feet and also made a pair of birdies to start. Young is 7 years younger and Scheffler is 6. With starts like these, it seems like one of them is going deeper today.

It’s the last day of the Men’s Major season, and it’s both a happy and sad occasion. We’ll finally find out who the Golf Champion of the Year is, but then the long road to the Masters begins in April, 9 months from now.
But on this beautiful Sunday on the north west Lancashire coast we were blessed with glorious sunshine and only a slight breeze. No one is threatening 62 yet – we’ve had three in the last two days – but England’s Matthew Southgate is 4 under and Rickie Fowler is 3 under among the early starters. So, if any contender wants to lift the claret jug later in the day, they will have to earn their share of birdies. Let there be a day! – Adam Shchupak
