One person is dead after a fire broke out at a mixed-use residential and commercial building in northeast Edmonton Monday night.

Edmonton Fire and Rescue said crews were dispatched at 9:19 p.m. to a low-rise residential building on the corner of 132nd Avenue and 82nd Street, which has commercial businesses on the ground floor.
Firefighters arrived at 9:23 p.m. and the fire was upgraded to a second alarm a minute later.
Eleven fire crews, or about 44 firefighters, responded and evacuated the building at 13126 82 St. in the Killarney area.
Firefighters have confirmed one death. Eight to ten ambulances were also at the scene.

Edmonton police said 82 Street between Avenue 137 and Yellowhead Trail was closed in all directions as officers and emergency crews responded to the collision and fire in the area.
