Brisbane Broncos player Josiah Carapani has been dropped from the squad for the Round 18 game against Cronulla for disciplinary reasons after the 24-year-old was stopped by police on Sunday morning.
The club confirmed on Monday that Carapani was stopped by Queensland Police on the Pacific Motorway after he was spotted driving nearly 20km over the speed limit. He was administered a breathalyzer and recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.037, above the limit for a provisional license holder.

“After being stopped at the side of the road, Josiah was taken to Holland Park Police Station where a breath test was carried out which returned a reading of 0.037,” the club said in a statement.
“As a temporary license holder (P. Plater), Josiah must have a blood alcohol concentration of zero.”
He also received a speeding citation for speeding, as well as additional citations for “failure to display P plates,” “driving an unregistered vehicle,” and “driving an uninsured vehicle.”
The club confirmed that the NRL’s integrity department had been informed and that Carapani had been given a court date at the end of July.
