Trent Robinson has dismissed rumors that veteran Daly Cherry-Evans is certain to play for the Roosters next season.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Robinson cleared the air when asked if Cherry-Evans had told the club he would continue to play and be in the squad for his 17th NRL season in 2027.
“No, that’s not true,” Robinson said.
“That doesn’t mean they (discussions) won’t (take place), but they just haven’t happened yet.”
The 37-year-old has made 369 senior appearances, including 17 for the Roosters in his first season at the club.
He has four tries and 10 assists as the Tricolors sit in third place and hope to cement their top-four status with victory over the Knights in Newcastle on Friday night.

Even though the two sides are yet to agree on Cherry-Evans playing next year, Robinson couldn’t be more effusive in his praise for the former State of Origin captain.
“He’s doing very well and he’s definitely defying his age, that’s for sure, so he still has some good players,” Robinson said.
“He flies and I really like the way he flies, but none of these discussions (ongoing) have happened yet.”
Depending on other results, a win on Friday night could see the Roosters finish Round 21 in second place in the NRL standings.
