Camila Morrone was seven years old when she saw her first soccer match: a friendly between Argentina and Mexico in Los Angeles. “My dad used to be a goalkeeper, and he actually forced me to try out for the school soccer team my freshman year—I got in, but I was terrible,” she says. Yesterday, Something very bad is going to happen the actress traveled to Dallas for Argentina’s game against Jordan, which was also her first World Cup match. “The pride I have for Argentina (and) for this team is unfathomable,” she says. “It’s literally in my blood! I had no choice!”

Morrone flew to Texas and quickly turned around to compete in the 2026 World Cup for the first time, Argentina’s final group match. To lighten the mood, she played Latin music while she picked out her outfit—a repurposed cropped Argentine one-shoulder soccer T-shirt, low-rise white jeans and a bucket hat—and did her makeup. On her way to the game, she FaceTimed her family back home in Argentina.
At the stadium, she joined her friends, generously rubbing them with the face paint her mother had given her. And it was Target! Target! Target! Lionel Messi made history when he came off the bench to score in Argentina’s 3-1 win over Jordan. (The soccer legend and national hero scored his sixth goal of the tournament, making him the first man to score in seven consecutive World Cup matches.)
“I have to say I have never felt anything like that moment when Messi came off the bench to warm up and the crowd in the stadium erupted,” Morrone says. “It was amazing! Nobody does it like the Argentines.”
