Toledo Bend Reservoir will be part of the 2027 Bass Pro Tour, bringing top Major League Fishing anglers to Sabine County.
Major League Fishing announced Tuesday that Toledo Bend will host Stage 4 of the 2027 Bass Pro Tour, one of seven regular-season events on the tour schedule. The top 50 anglers on tour will compete at Toledo Bend April 1-4.
The City of Hemphill and Sabine County will help host the event. Local officials said preparations are already underway and they are expecting a first-class experience.
“Hosting an event of this caliber gives us a great opportunity to showcase one of the nation’s best fisheries, the natural beauty of East Texas and the world-class amenities now available at the Texas Sabine River Authority’s Sabinetown Recreation Area,” said Sabine County Judge Daryl Melton. “We look forward to welcoming anglers, families and hobbyists to our community and sharing all that Toledo Bend and Sabine County have to offer.”
The 2027 event will be Major League Fishing’s Bass Pro Tour’s second stop in Toledo Bend. Alabama pro angler Dustin Connell won the previous Toledo Bend tournament in 2024.
Tournaments consist of four days of fishing with initial qualifying, an elimination round and a championship round. Daniel Fennell, senior director of tournament operations for the Bass Pro Tour, said the series is built on great fishing and passionate host communities.
“From historic sites like the St. Johns River, Toledo Bend and Lake Champlain to exciting stops like the Pasquotank River and our two-lake competition in Louisiana, this schedule will provide an amazing challenge for our anglers and a season full of storylines for fans to follow from start to finish,” Fennel said.
The 2026 Bass Pro Tour season will conclude Aug. 6-9 with Stage 7 on Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio.
