Although one Netflix sci-fi series starred future A-listers Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell, the series never received much attention in its several years of existence. If there’s one big problem with the streaming era, it’s that many great shows and movies fail due to the sheer amount of content available to viewers.
While Netflix K-Pop Demon Hunters deservedly became a huge hit upon its release in 2025, equally excellent Gentry Chau vs. Underworld has yet to receive the same attention despite critical acclaim. Although Hulu The Handmaid’s Tale Ridley Scott’s critically acclaimed dystopian sci-fi thriller is a two-season effort in the same genre as the HBO Max series. Raised by wolveswas largely forgotten.
Likewise, although the animated Netflix shows Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous And Jurassic World: Chaos Theory boasted actors like Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega, neither show came close to mainstream success. Jurassic World there are films. What makes this a real shame is the fact that, as surprising as it may sound, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous And Jurassic World: Chaos Theory perhaps the most faithful sequels in the entire franchise.
Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell’s Jurassic World series never became a mainstream hit

Two scorpion rexes roar in the fog in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous
The action takes place between the events of the 2015 reboot of the franchise. Jurassic World and continuation of 2018 Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous debuted in 2020. The series follows a group of teenagers, including Ortega’s wannabe travel influencer Brooklyn, Paul-Mikel Williams’ Darius, Kausar Mohammed’s Yaz, Sean Giambrone’s Ben and Riney Rodriguez’s endlessly enthusiastic Sammy, who are accidentally stranded at the titular theme park when its dinosaur rides break loose.
Although Ortega Jurassic World spin-off is animated, viewers should not assume what this means Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and its continuation in 2024, Jurassic World: Chaos Theoryaimed at children. Instead, the two animated series may be the most tonally faithful sequels to Steven Spielberg’s original 1993 blockbuster, bringing back the unpredictable tone and horror elements of Michael Crichton’s adaptation.
While sequels like 1997 The Lost World: Jurassic Park And Jurassic World: Dominion favored flashy action sequences over suspense and suspense, both Camp Cretaceous And Chaos Theory take a more nuanced approach to franchising. Bye Camp Cretaceous it’s essentially a siege horror that follows the group’s attempts to escape a chaotic, overrun Jurassic World. Chaos TheoryThe four-season story expanded the world of the series, but also often returned to the franchise’s grisly roots.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and Chaos Theory are two of the franchise’s best sequels

Despite this, the two series never received as much recognition as their film counterparts. Perhaps it’s due to their animated format, but the voice cast is truly stellar Camp Cretaceous makes it amazing. Bye Chaos Theory The supporting cast included Skyler Gisondo and Isabella Rossellini, Chad Powers himself, Glen Powell, voiced the character in Camp Cretaceous.
The show’s cast also included Stephanie Beatriz and Jameela Jamil, as well as Bradley Whitford and Haley Joel Osment. While that star power alone isn’t the only thing that makes both shows great, it’s the sheer talent that does make for a disappointing response to Camp Cretaceous And Chaos Theory even more disappointment.
Prioritizing truly unpredictable narrative choices and some shocking character deaths, Camp Cretaceous And Chaos Theory ensured that the two animated shows would be worthy sequels to the original film. All the other sequels in the franchise seem to have forgotten how dark the ending was. Jurassic Park indeed, including Spielberg’s own sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
As such, these Netflix series deserve praise for their attempts to bring dark horror elements back into an increasingly benign blockbuster series. However, this did not lead to Camp Cretaceous And Chaos Theory become mainstream hits that two Netflix Jurassic World Additional shows deserve to be there.
