In episode 295 Podcast “The Threat” Host Dennis James, along with his regular panelists Milos Sarcev and Jose Raymond, pitted the two bodybuilding icons against each other, debating who was the best. Jay Cutler or Big Ramy?
Big Ramy, an Egyptian bodybuilder whose real name is Mamdouh Elsbiaye and is of Egyptian descent, took the muscle business by storm by winning the 2012 IFBB Amateur Mr. Olympia. The following year, he reached the Mr. Olympia final, improving on his debut eighth place finish and scoring back-to-back wins in 2020 and 2021.
Jay Cutler is a four-time Mr. Olympia winner, winning the Sandow Championships in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. but he was past his prime when the two giants collided in the 2013 final. However, “The Quad Stomper” finished in sixth place, with the up-and-coming Ramy finishing in eighth place.
Given their monstrous size and thick build, observers often debated who was the best overall bodybuilder of their time. And in the last issue Podcast “The Threat” this conversation continued.
Jay Cutler vs. Big Ramy: Size, Fitness, and Symmetry Comparison
Reflecting on Cutler’s victory over Ramy in 2013, Jose Raymond said the Quad Stomper “gifted this place”, noting that the Egyptian was “significantly bigger and in better shape” on stage. James agreed, stating that Rami made Cutler look “bad in a lot of poses.”
So, can prime Jay Cutler beat peak Big Ramy? Apparently not, said Dennis James. “These two were the widest bodybuilders I’ve ever seen,” the presenter said. “But the most impressive, in my opinion, was Rami. Just because of the width, then the waist, and then the damn widened quads.” James went on to say that during his heyday, Big Ramy was so pumped up that he looked like a “cartoon character.”
