From reproductive rights to climate change to big tech, The Independent is at the heart of the action as the story unfolds. Whether it’s investigating the financials of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump committee or producing our latest documentary, The Word, which shines a light on American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to get the facts out of reporting.
At such a critical time in U.S. history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to continue sending journalists to tell both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to keep Americans away from our reporting and analysis behind a paywall. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone and paid for by those who can afford it.

Kylian Mbappe was substituted as a precaution in the 2-0 World Cup quarter-final win over Morocco on Thursday.
France captain Mbappe, who is now level with Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race with eight goals, scored a stunning first goal of the second half after missing a first-half penalty in Boston.
However, Moroccan defender Issa Diop burst through the France striker soon after, earning a yellow card as Mbappe reacted with pain.
France head coach Didier Deschamps took no chances as Les Blais beat Ousmane Dembele 2-0, with Mbappe making way for Jean-Philippe Matete in the 78th minute.
Mbappe had an ice strapped to his ankle on the bench but did not look too worried with France’s semi-final against Spain or Belgium five days away.
The Real Madrid striker was also seen celebrating after suffering a blow to his ankle after the match.
