Indian pacer Gurnoor Brar has been booked for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the first match of the ODI series against England in Birmingham.
Brar was found to have violated Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing the ball at or near a player in an improper and/or dangerous manner during an international match.”
In addition, Brar was given one demerit point as part of his disciplinary record, making this his first offense in a 24-month period.
The said incident occurred in the eighth over of England’s innings when Brar picked up the ball during play and threw it towards the batter in an inappropriate and dangerous manner.
The player admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Match Referee Panel and therefore no formal hearing was necessary.
