He said this at a press conference after the meeting of the Joint Indo-Polish Economic Commission in New Delhi. Bartoszewski said Prime Minister Modi is also among the few world leaders that Putin seriously listens to.
Bartoszewski said Prime Minister Modi is a well-known and respected world leader. India has long had deep relations with Russia and, before that, with the Soviet Union. He said that President Putin really pays attention to what Prime Minister Modi says.
He also said Prime Minister Modi proved this effect in late 2022 when he banned Putin from using tactical nuclear weapons in Ukraine. According to him, Prime Minister Modi is one of the few who can put pressure on Putin, and this can help stop the war from India.

The announcement brought renewed attention to Prime Minister Modi’s diplomatic efforts regarding the war in Ukraine. This war has been going on for four years now. During the Shanghai Cooperation Organization meeting held in Uzbekistan in September 2022, Prime Minister Modi told Putin that today’s era is not an era of war.
India has consistently insisted on dialogue and diplomacy and refused to participate in Western sanctions against Russia. Prime Minister Modi met with both Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. He also visited Kyiv in 2024.
Despite pressure from America and European countries, India continues to buy oil from Russia at low prices and believes that this is due to energy security. Putin also last month called India a great country and supported its independent foreign policy.
Bartoszewski also praised India’s position on the Iran war and reiterated his support for India’s demand for permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
