Comedian Hella von Sinnen sharply criticizes Dieter Nuhr and defends Thomas Gottschalk. In the interview, she talks about her experiences with sexism in the television industry.
Following Dieter Nuhr’s allegations of violence against women, Hella von Sinnen questions his tenure on public television. “Every year, about 350 women are killed by their husbands – and he says this? What kind of incredible impudence is this on Noor’s part? What is this incredible trivialization of femicide and the denial of this misogyny? I find this truly incredible. I am curious whether Mr. Noor will keep his job at ARD,” the artist told the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung newspaper. (NOZ).
Nuhr sparked debate with his statements in the program “Nuhr im Erste XXL” on June 18. “There are between 300 and 350 murders of women every year, and please, of course, that’s 300 to 350 too many, there’s no doubt about that,” the cabaret performer said. “But there are tens of millions of men in Germany. The likelihood of meeting a killer woman in a relationship is almost zero. Just in case, it’s a good idea to get to know your partner before you have sex.”

But she herself always exercised self-determination and consciously made her sexuality an issue: “It was a provocation: I was a fat lesbian woman who clearly had good sex. And who could sleep with women who were unavailable to many men. I’ve never been desexualized.”
Von Sinnen urged men to take responsibility: “They exist, good men, and I am glad of that. But at the moment, fascism is becoming more popular again, and men are again asking the question: how can I finally become “manly” again? How can I get my wife back to the stove? Do you want to be part of something like this? You guys need to ask yourself these questions and then please get off your ass. We don’t have to do that either.”
