The Manchester City star surpassed his previous mark after finishing the 2025/26 season as top scorer
Erling Haaland has become the most expensive player of all time after being valued at £15.5 million for the 2026/27 Fantasy Premier League season.
The Norwegian Manchester City striker has smashed his previous record of £15 million for the 2024/25 season.
Haaland now features four times in the list of the nine most expensive players of all time, costing £14 million at the start of the 2023/24 season and last season in 2025/26.

Haaland is up £1.5 million from his starting price last season, when he topped the player rankings with 239 points thanks to 27 goals and eight assists.
Remarkably, this result made the Manchester City star the player with the most owners and captains in any game week last season. The jump in Fantasy 2026/27 costs means that if you plan to maintain this strategy, you’ll have to make sacrifices elsewhere.
With FPL managers having a £100m budget at the start of the season, owning Haaland leaves you with just £84.5m to spend on the other 14 players in your 15-man squad.
Strong starter
Despite his enormous cost, Haaland’s story in Fantasy suggests that going without him would be a very risky tactic.
He was the highest-scoring player after the first six game weeks of all four seasons at Manchester City.
As you can see from the table below, the Norwegian averaged nine goals in the first six game weeks of each season of his fantasy career.
But it’s worth noting that this season will be Haaland’s first time playing in an international tournament early due to Norway’s participation in the FIFA World Cup, where Haaland scored seven goals.

An early version of the triple captain
Manchester City’s early schedule is another major factor in Haaland’s favor.
Enzo Mareschi’s side have played four home games in the first seven gameweeks, with TWO of them against promoted sides – they host Coventry City and Ipswich Town in gameweeks three and seven respectively.

In his first home game against last season’s promoted side, Haaland scored twice and provided an assist in a 5-1 win over Burnley, taking 16 points, his best tally of the campaign.
According to the Match Difficulty Rating (FDR), the matches against Coventry and Ipswich, as well as Manchester City’s home clash with Sunderland in Gameweek 5, saw only two goals scored.

Watching Manchester City’s pre-season matches will be vital to keeping an eye on Haaland’s fitness as the striker is set to make a late return to action following his efforts with Norway.
