Current situation
The City of Kimberley has issued an evacuation warning for all properties within the municipal boundaries of the City of Kimberley due to the Matthew Creek bushfire (N11020). Anyone in the affected area should be prepared to leave the area as soon as possible.
The Regional District of East Kootenay has also issued an evacuation warning for 66 properties in the Lake St. Mary’s RDEK Electoral District E due to the Tower Creek wildfires (N10944 and N10947).
Now is the time for residents in both evacuation notice zones to ensure they are receiving information from factual sources, registering with the regional evacuation notice system, and taking steps to prepare themselves and their families should conditions worsen.
