Canadian Tristan Peters hits cycling and track and field

The Chicago White Sox center fielder hit the cycle on Friday, becoming the first Canadian since 2011 to do so.

Peters, 26, hit the plate with four trips to the plate in each phase of the cycle, starting with a double in the bottom of the third inning.

From there, the Winkler, Man., native collected a single in the fourth and a 410-foot homer in the seventh before racing the bases for a triple with two outs later in the inning as Chicago battled the A’s.

The left-handed hitting outfielder has been a revelation this season for the White Sox. Friday’s outburst only continued that, raising his slash line for the year to .303/.357/.484 and giving him 20 doubles, three triples and six homers.

“If I keep getting hits, I’ll keep doing it.”

Well, after a 4-for-4 performance and a 14-1 win, Peters might be more likely to sign on the mic the next time he appears.

Peters becomes the sixth batter in White Sox history to hit in the cycle and the first since Jose Abreu on September 9, 2017.

Milwaukee Brewers catcher George Kottaras became the latest Canadian to hit the cycle and pitched a monster game on September 3, 2011.
