Broadway Barks returns to Shubert Alley on Saturday, July 11th for the 28th Annual Dog and Cat Adoption Event hosted by Bernadette Peters and Andrew Rannells.
Founded by Peters and Mary Tyler Moore, the event is free and open to the public and features adopted animals from New York City adoption agencies and rescue groups, as well as Broadway performers who help them find loving homes.
The adoption event, sponsored by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a meet-and-greet for all adopted pets. From 5:00 to 6:30 p.m., adoptees are joined on stage by Broadway performers for celebrity presentations.
This year’s celebrity guests include Tony Award winners Shoshana Bean, Laurie Metcalf, Casey Levy, Natalie Venezia Belcon, J. Harrison Gee, Debbie Gravitt; theater newcomers such as Ayo Edebiri and Melissa Barrera; legends Bebe Neuwirth and Ben Vereen; and many others.
Over the past 27 years, the event has featured more than 2,500 dogs and cats and has an adoption rate of 85 percent.
