Boiler explosion at Montebello distillery: second death regrettable

It was after a stay in the operating room that another employee of the Montebello distillery finally died, this Sunday, July 26, 2026, two days after the boiler explosion at the Petit-Bourg industrial plant. This is a very young employee, 29 years old: the company’s director of research and development for production. This father of a two-year-old child has been in office for two years.

This tragedy has already resulted in the first fatality soon after the explosion. In addition to these two fatalities, three other employees suffered serious injuries, burns and/or fractures.

This serious incident occurred at 8:33 am on Friday 24 July, fortunately when there were no visitors yet on site. Because this place receives tourists and vacationers every day, especially during long school holidays.

However, there were 17 people there. Those who were not physically harmed are now deeply shocked to have witnessed this traumatic event in their workplace.

The criminal investigation, which should shed light on the causes of this explosion, promises to be very technical. It’s open to “manslaughter and unintentional injuries at workSpecialized teams from France are expected to contribute.
