European aircraft manufacturer Airbus has received a large order from China worth several billion dollars.

State-owned Air China and its subsidiary Shenzhen Airlines have ordered 55 aircraft from Airbus, Air China said in a statement to the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The total order value, based on list prices, is $12.4 billion. With the purchase, Air China wants to expand its capacity and upgrade its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft. Air China itself has ordered 15 A350-900 widebody aircraft, while Shenzhen Airlines has ordered 40 A320neo family aircraft. Delivery of A350 aircraft is planned for 2030–2032, and A320neo aircraft for the period from 2029 to 2032. (
