Composer Anirudh Ravichander’s family seems to have finally resolved, at least unofficially, the question that fans have been asking for over a year: is he going to marry Sunrisers Hyderabad CEO Kavya Maran. Veteran actor YG Mahendran, Anirudh’s uncle, confirmed that the wedding is a “probability”, reigniting rumors that have come and gone in waves since mid-2025.
SOUTH. Mahendran made this statement during an interview on KPTV’s Kutti Padmini, where he was directly asked about the long-running rumors surrounding his nephew. Speaking warmly about Anirudha Ravichander, he said, “He is a very gentle boy. I would like to take this moment to congratulate him. He is preparing for a very big wedding.” Asked if the messages were genuine, he added, “From what I’ve been told, that’s for sure. They are getting married,” and also praised Kavya Maran, calling them a “good couple.” Despite his comments going viral, neither Anirudh Ravichander nor Kavya Maran have personally confirmed their relationship or any wedding plans.
This is also not the first round of speculation. Similar rumors surfaced in June 2025 after a post on Reddit claimed that the two had been dating for over a year and were planning to get married, with the post even claiming that Rajinikanth, who is related to Anirudh Ravichander, met with Kavya’s father to discuss the relationship. He then dismissed the conversation by writing on X: “Marriage, huh? lol… Relax guys, please stop spreading rumors.”

Who is Kavya Maran?
Much of the public’s curiosity is focused on who Kavya Maran really is, given how much of her profile exists outside of the entertainment world she will marry. She is the daughter of Kalanithi Maran, the billionaire chairman of Sun Group, one of India’s largest media conglomerates, and Kaveri Maran, CEO of Sun TV Network and one of the country’s highest-paid female executives.

She took over as CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2018, becoming one of the youngest executives to head an IPL franchise, and has since expanded the Sunrisers brand internationally, taking the helm of Sunrisers Eastern Cape in South Africa’s SA20 League and, most recently, Sunrisers Leeds in England’s The Hundred League. Her personal net worth is estimated at Rs 400-500 crore, largely due to her leadership position at Sun TV Network and her stake in the Sunrisers franchise network, while the Maran family’s business holdings as a whole are valued at over $2 billion by Forbes.
Anirudh Ravichander, on the other hand, has built one of the most prolific composing careers in Indian cinema, composing music for stars such as Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Shah Rukh Khan and Jr NTR, as well as Jailer, Leo, Vikram and Coolie among many others. Notably, Sun Pictures, the production arm of Kavya’s father’s media empire, has backed several of Anirudh’s biggest films, including Warden, Beast and Coolie, with industry fans pointing to this as one of the reasons why their paths are believed to have crossed much before marriage rumors surfaced.
