The two greats of world football seem to get along particularly well. After a comfortable 2-0 victory for the French World Championships in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Superstar Kylian Mbappe (27) takes to the podium to warmly greet MagentaTV pundit Jurgen Klopp (59). They hug each other, speak a few sentences to each other and wave to the audience.

He answered me: “Yes, she sits up there.” Meanwhile, scenes on TV can be seen of Klopp and Mbappe laughing loudly together and then looking at the crowd, with Klopp even blowing kisses in that direction.

Kerner sums it up: “It’s a special moment here on the sidelines.” How do Klopp and Mbappe know and understand each other so well? Klopp laughs: “I told you, we had a nice dinner on the plane.” In fact, Klopp had already told the pre-game show how he once wanted to convince Mbappe to move to Liverpool. “I don’t know exactly when it was in terms of the year. Before he went to Paris,” Klopp said. Mbappe played for Monaco until 2017. At the time, Liverpool organized a secret meeting with Mbappe and his family to sign him. Klopp: “The most expensive non-transfer we have invested in. We flew from Liverpool to Blackpool to Nice. In Nice, the whole Mbappe family boarded a private jet with five rooms. Then we flew in circles, talked with the family. We also had a delicious lunch.”
