The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) condemned the violence that erupted during the Jantar Mantar protest over NEET-UG and other education-related issues, alleging that “anti-social elements” and political interests have hijacked the legitimate agitation of students.
The students in the same spirit also urged the Union government to set up a high-level committee to review the transparency and integrity of competitive examinations.
In a statement, the ABVP condemned the clashes during the demonstration, saying the legitimate concerns of students should be addressed through dialogue, transparency and institutional reforms.
“ABVP believes that under the guise of a genuine student movement, rogue political interests and anti-social elements deliberately organized violence to disrupt public order. ABVP condemns these tactics in the strongest possible terms,” the statement said.
Expressing sympathy to the students and security personnel affected by the violence, ABVP said that the grievances of students should not be used for political purposes and appealed to students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders to ensure that the problems of students are resolved through peaceful and democratic means.
Reiterating its stand on alleged irregularities in competitive exams, including NEET-UG, the organization said it has consistently sought accountability in the examination system.
“To ensure integrity and transparency in the examination system, the ABVP was the first to demand a probe by the central agency by staging protests outside the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters demanding accountability and strict action against the culprits. From 2024 to date, the ABVP has continuously fought in the interest of students on the issue of NEET-UG,” the statement said.
He added that the organization therefore demands that the Government of India constitute a high-level committee to conduct a comprehensive review of the integrity, transparency and necessary institutional reforms of competitive examinations. This committee should make specific, time-bound recommendations to make the examination system more credible and accountable.
