Tennis star Alexander Zvere is supported by his girlfriend Sofia Thomalla at Wimbledon 2026.

Alexander “Sasha” Zverev earned a berth in his first career men’s final at Wimbledon 2026 after defeating hometown favorite Arthur Fehry in straight sets.

Zverev defeated Fery 7-6 (0), 6-2, 6-4 in just two hours and 14 minutes. To win his second consecutive Grand Slam title and the gentlemen’s singles trophy, Zverev must defeat Jannik Sinner on July 12.

Beating the world No. 1 player will be a tall order as Zverev is 0-9 against Sinner since 2024. However, the German star, who has never made it past the fourth round in London, is on the rise.

“It’s amazing. This Grand Slam tournament has always been something I’ve really struggled with and now I’m in the Wimbledon final,” Zverev said. “I’m incredibly happy. I’m incredibly proud of the team and everyone involved and we have one game to play on Sunday.”

If the 29-year-old beats Sinner, he will become the seventh man of the Open era to win Roland Garros and Wimbledon in the same year. He became the first man in the Open Era to win a second career Grand Slam title immediately following his first victory.

Encouraging Zverev to make history is his longtime friend Sofia Thomalla. In April, Zverev and the German model celebrated their fifth anniversary.

Zverev previously dated Brenda Patea, with whom he has a five-year-old daughter, Maila. The couple met in 2019 and separated in 2020. Before his performance at Wimbledon, Zverev’s girlfriend, daughter Maila, and his grandmother Natalya Fateeva shared a box at the Terra Wortmann Open tournament, which takes place in the tennis star’s homeland.

“She’s with me quite often now,” Zverev told reporters at the tournament, where he lost to Taylor Fritz in the semifinals. “It’s certainly something special, but it’s nothing new. She’s probably been to half the tournaments this year. She’s probably a little more in the spotlight here because the hotel is right next to the venue and she’s seen more often.”

“But it’s obviously very, very nice for me. I’m always happy when it’s like that. But I think it’s slowly becoming the norm and having support always helps me.”

Fans are hoping to see Maila at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Sunday with Thomalla. However, Zverev’s grandmother will not be in London for his first Wimbledon final. She has a Russian passport, and the validity of her visa has already exceeded 90 days, Zverev told reporters.

Alexander Zverev and ex-girlfriend Brenda Patea have settled out of court after allegations of physical abuse

After their split, Patea accused Zverev of physical abuse, but they “reached an out-of-court settlement,” DW News correspondent Jonathan Crane reported in June 2024.

Patea accused Zverev of strangling her in the model’s apartment building in Berlin in May 2020. The Berlin court’s presiding judge, Barbara Luders, announced that the proceedings were “terminated” without a verdict, Crane said.

Katharina Dirlamm, one of Zverev’s criminal lawyers, told the court: “We are glad that an agreement has been reached. It is for the benefit of the child they are raising together so that he has the chance to grow up without conflict.”

Christine Hartmann, one of Patea’s lawyers, confirmed to DW News: “We filed for a settlement. The daughter was really suffering. So now they can both look to the future and move on with their lives. We ended the deal with (the feeling) that people should stop throwing things at each other.” Crane noted that “according to the agreement, Zverev does not admit guilt.”
