NEW YORK, July 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Travelers at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 5 will be able to enjoy a variety of new dining and shopping options this summer as part of a multimillion-dollar renovation by JetBlue, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and Fraport USA. Once completed, the terminal will feature more than 40 new shops, restaurants, public spaces and art installations inspired by New York City and its boroughs.

To date, the Fraport New York team has welcomed about a dozen newcomers. “In Terminal 5 we are creating more than just an airport. We are creating a place that reflects the spirit of New York,” said Jose Cuevas, vice president of Fraport New York, who is leading concession development. “The renovation transforms the terminal, offering exceptional dining and shopping, arts, entertainment and thoughtful gathering spaces that come together to promote discovery, comfort and connection.”

In June alone, they celebrated the grand openings of several highly anticipated establishments, including acclaimed Italian eatery Eataly and quirky New York food spots like Nom Wah and The Halal Guys.

Restaurant opened a grand 3,800-square-foot restaurant, wine bar and takeout market. This place celebrates authentic Italian food and wine culture. In collaboration with the Metropolitan Opera, the opening featured prominent artists and also featured works by Giacomo Puccini and Giuseppe Verdi. The program also featured Leonard Bernstein’s favorite “Maria” from West Side Story.

Nom Wow is a charming 3,500 square foot restaurant and bar that transports travelers to a vintage dim sum parlor reminiscent of the 1920s. The restaurant originally opened in Manhattan’s Chinatown in 1920. Nom Va is recognized as the oldest continuously operating dim sum restaurant in the city. It is known for its handmade dumplings and classic dishes.

Halal guys a Midtown favorite that started as a street cart and became known for its halal chicken and gyros served with pita bread and its signature white sauce.

Expect even more unique experiences from a range of New York-based brands in the coming months. “Each new opening of our Terminal 5 brings another flavor of our hometown to our customers. We are very proud to celebrate the diversity that New York has to offer while giving our customers more choices, enhancing their experience before takeoff,” said Stephanie Evans Green, senior vice president of marketing and brand at JetBlue.

At T5, travelers can now enjoy iconic dishes from Leon’s Bagels, Jacob’s Pickles, Melting shop, DunkinAnd Shake Shack. New retail offerings include InMotion, Emporium ParkAnd Gamewayroom for games and relaxation.

Reconstruction of the central lobby is nearing completion. The redesign aims to create a vibrant space inspired by the city’s famous parks. The area will provide space for temporary entertainment, interactive events and live performances celebrating the city’s cultural heritage. A new gathering place called Central Nodovy Parkexpected to be completed in September.
