McGregor wants quick change after UFC 329: 'We plan to get down to business'

Conor McGregor has landed in Las Vegas and is enjoying the scenery at T-Mobile Arena where he will take on Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11. According to The Notorious, he’s excited to be back and has no plans to slow down now that he’s competing again.

“Oh, I love this arena,” McGregor told ESPN. “I love fight nights, fight week. And God willing, I’ll be back here next week and the week after, how many weeks in a year? 54? That’s it, I could fight every week if it was possible, you know? Before the injury, I had probably three fights in a year. People don’t remember that. And, yeah, that’s it. We’re planning on doing it here.”

The only problem? His promotion, the UFC, seems more interested in slowing his progress than allowing him to fight the final two fights of his current contract. Previously, McGregor said that the promotion had set the date for his next fight for April 2027. This clearly irritated Mack, who had been trying to start a “fighting season” even before COVID hit.

“I wish for it,” he said of the quick return. “So, if I’m the person in the arena, right? I’m the one who makes the move. So if I’m the one who moves forward and campaigns for it, I’m confident that that (will) be the case. Now I’ve said my piece about the Ultimate Fighting Championship and them staging my fights, and they’ve said their piece. And it kind of came down to, ‘Let it happen on Saturday night and let’s talk.’ And I’m okay with that. I’m absolutely okay with that.”

“As you know, there are two fights left on the contract. Everything is still as it is. There will be this one, then another one. So I hope to continue, and I am optimistic that it will be so.”

However, it is clear that McGregor is currently fully committed to fighting. We’ll see how long this lasts, but the UFC should strike while the iron is hot.
