Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max will have a significantly larger battery than its predecessor.
We know this because a tipster called Digital Chat Station spotted regulatory documents for future iPhones in China (via MacRumors).
Starting with the iPhone 18 Pro, it will apparently have a 4,056mAh battery in China and 4,288mAh in the US (the difference is the SIM tray, which the iPhone still has in China; the SIM tray takes up some space that would otherwise be dedicated to the battery). That’s an increase over the iPhone 17 Pro, which had a 3,988mAh and 4,252mAh battery respectively, but it’s hardly a sensation.

Leaks about Apple iPhone 18 Pro will become much more intense
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is a different story. Chinese database data shows that it will have a 5,391mAh battery in China and a 5,567mAh battery in the US, which is a decent jump from the 4,823/5,088mAh battery on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
There is one caveat: the leaker says the iPhone 18 Pro Max’s battery capacity is “questionable and requires further verification.”
If the report is correct, iPhone 18 Pro Max buyers can expect a decent increase in battery life. The battery capacity is about 10 percent larger than last year’s model, although this doesn’t directly impact battery life as it also depends on the chips powering the device, the display, and various optimizations to extend battery life. The good news is that Apple does a very good job with these optimizations, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see an even bigger jump in rated battery life on the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will likely be unveiled in early September, along with Apple’s first foldable phone, which will likely be called the iPhone Ultra.
