“It’s time for a change,” says a Perth news anchor as he steps down as anchor.

Perth ABC News Presenter Michael Tetlow has left the broadcaster after more than 8 years.

Tetlow anchored Washington State’s local newscasts at 7 p.m., as well as ABC Late News, Afternoon News and most recently ABC Radio.

“In career news, I’m changing studios to Sunny and will be taking up a new role as Media Manager at Rottnest Island Authority in a few weeks,” he wrote on Facebook.

“It means leaving Late News and ABC after over 8 incredible years.

“I loved it, but working until midnight five nights a week took its toll. My boys Josh and Sam are getting older and evenings with them are precious. As is time with my wonderful wife Rochelle, who has been carrying the can every weeknight for all these years, providing unwavering support.

“Many of my ABC colleagues have become wonderful friends and I will miss them. I will also miss the special connection I have with ABC TV and radio listeners.

“Teenage Mike, who dreamed of working in broadcasting in the 1990s, could hardly have believed where his career would take him.

“But it’s time for a change. See you at Rotto’s Bakery!”
