Alpha Review: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari use all the guns in Captain America-Wolverine

First, the fastest, the fastest. Who are they? They are Alpha. But is it really Alpha get an A for effort? It’s much better than War 2YRF’s latest spy film, that’s for sure.

This is the story of a new Sita, played by a woman who is about to burn Lanka herself. Alia Bhatt plays Sita, a special forces soldier trained by Bollywood’s arch-villain Bobby Deol, who plays army man and sachha desh bhakt Fateh Singh Lakhawat.

Alpha is a top secret elite program run by the Indian Army under the aegis of Fateh and Vikrant Kaul Colonel Anil Kapoor, who becomes the head of RAW, which we know from War 2. Under Alpha’s leadership, a ruthless new generation of soldiers is being trained, those who will rewrite the rules of war. There is a special serum in the film that serves as the MacGuffin for the story.

There is another Alpha in the film who is more Beta than Alpha and that is Sharwari who played a critically acclaimed role in Imtiaz Ali’s film. Home Vaapas Aaunga. While Alia gets a stunning scene for her introduction, Sharvari’s first shot starts with a dance number in Spain.

Alia is a trained assassin, Sharvari is portrayed as an influencer and content creator who dances and skateboards in foreign countries. Director Shiv Rawail and writer Uday Chopra could argue that this was their way of creating a noticeable contrast between two characters who had very different upbringings. This could add interest to the story if it weren’t so banal. However, the sequence of actions is worth watching.

After a brutal confrontation, these two Alphas talk to each other, hold hands, ride bikes and swim in deep waters somewhere in Kashmir. It’s all for the sake of a larger goal, but what other reason is there? No spoilers here.

There’s nothing special about this story, so if you’re looking for it, you’re bound to be disappointed. The YRF Universe template is already available, so what you get is not so much the locations, looks, stars, but the story. The idea was good: the first female spies, one of a kind. But when you give them the Captain America or Wolverine treatment, it makes a big difference. (*winks*)

The ever reliable Anil Kapoor has arrived in YRF’s spy universe. From the trailer, we already knew that Hrithik Roshan will be returning as Kabir from War so no surprises here. The best part of Alpha is Bobby Deol, who is absolutely believable as a patriot on a secret mission to change the future of war. There are links to Soldier And Pathanboth characters are fighting for a cause. There is more than one Dhurandhar link. Let’s see if you can spot both?

The first half of the film is a continuous and clear high, but by the second half “Alpha” runs out of steam. There are also many references to Hollywood. If you are a fan of the MCU, you will easily find Captain America, Wolverine and Black Widow. Eat Game of Thrones too much.

Comparison between Alpha And Dhurandhar were inevitable, like two spy films. But there is no comparison. If you can forget that social media is waging a war against Alpha And Dhurandhar, Alpha definitely can only be watched in a theater and only for the action scenes and background music.
