Coronation Street Spoilers follow.
Coronation Street Star Beth Nixon has spoken for the first time about the dramatic fate of her character Megan Walsh. In Friday’s episode, justice was finally served as Megan was found guilty of grooming Weatherfield teenager Will Driscoll.
The big scenes played out at the end of the week-long trial and marked the end of Beth’s tenure on the ITV soap.

Now, speaking exclusively to Inside the soap‘s Soap Scoop PodcastBeth revealed why her character always planned to get her comeuppance.
“When I first took on this role, we didn’t fully know what was going to happen, how long it was going to go on and how long she was going to be there,” Beth explained. “But it was always the case that she was never going to escape justice by being killed or anything like that.
“We always knew that she would serve her time. This shows the whole process. It’s quite nice because it shows what the whole family is going through – how they support Will and how it affects them.”
“It’s definitely important to show that if you’re being mistreated, you can get justice. It’s really difficult because it doesn’t always happen that way. But when (Corrie boss) Kate Brooks and the storylines have been building this story, there have been several cases recently where this has happened and the victims have gotten justice.
“Female rapists have been brought to justice and sent to prison for about five or six years, and that’s about what Meghan gets. So it’s important and it also reflects real life in a positive way. Even though it’s obviously such a dark storyline, it just shows that this can happen.”

Despite the fitting ending for her cunning character, Beth confirmed she wouldn’t rule it out. Corrie return to prison scenes in the future.
“I would welcome any opportunity to come back,” she confirmed. “I loved it and I cried so much on my last day. It’s just an amazing place to work and I felt so lucky that they gave me the storyline.
“I would love for Megan to run into Lou Michaelis. Farrell (Hegarty, who plays Lou) is a really good friend, so I would love to do some prison scenes with her. That would be amazing. I think Lou would definitely put Megan in her place!”
Beth joined the cast Corrie late last year, and news of her departure emerged two months ago.
