The southwest monsoon advanced over Delhi on Thursday, five days after its usual onset on June 27, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. For the first time since 2021, the monsoon reached the national capital in July; in 2021 it arrived on July 13th.

“On July 2, the southwest monsoon spread to parts of Gujarat, remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, entire Delhi region, large parts of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab and parts of Rajasthan. Conditions are favorable for further advance into parts of the northern Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan over the next two to three days,” the IMD said. said.
On July 3, the sky is mostly cloudy, with one or two intermittent light to light showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 30-40 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h in the morning or before noon. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be in the range of 30 to 32 degrees Celsius and 20 to 22 degrees Celsius respectively.
Even though the monsoon has begun, heavy rain is not expected for the next few days. However, temperatures are likely to remain well below normal, according to the IMD.
