A NSW man has won the entire $30 million Oz Lotto jackpot after choosing to pick his own numbers for the first time.
The man, from Erina on the state’s central coast, said he checked his ticket for Tuesday’s draw just before going to bed.
“That’s when I saw all the yellow numbers. They looked like tennis balls and I thought, ‘Wait,'” the man said.
“I asked the family to check it out and we just went crazy. We were all running around the house like crazy and the dog ran away, it was hilarious.”
The man said he had been playing Oz Lotto for many years, but this was the first time he decided to choose all his numbers.
“I usually use QuickPick. It’s a little weird! I’m really proud of myself for choosing them.”
He said it took him another 20 minutes to realize he wouldn’t have to share the prize.
“I won everything. I’m the guy who beat the odds,” he said.
He said the first thing he was going to do with the money was pay off his mortgage.
“I’ll take some time to think about what else. We want to be wise.”
The winning numbers for Tuesday’s Oz Lotto 1689 were 17, 19, 24, 43, 8 and 2, with the additional numbers being 12, 26 and 7.
