Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is close to returning on loan to Turkish club Trabzonspor.

The deal has not yet been agreed upon, but sources say it is 90% complete. There will be no purchase option as part of the agreement.

Onana made 29 appearances for Trabzonspor while on loan in the 2025/26 season and although he was due to return for United’s pre-season training in July, the 30-year-old knew he had no chance of displacing Senne Lammens as head coach of Michael Carrick.

With Lemmens playing for Belgium at the World Cup, the future of United’s second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir also uncertain and promising youngster Radek Vitek hoping to move ahead of pre-season, Carrick could have a number of inexperienced goalkeepers in his squad, as well as veteran Tom Heaton, to start the friendly against Wrexham in Helsinki on July 17.

Will United have enough goalkeepers for the season, or do you think they should go into the market – and if so, who would you choose?
