She will be sandwiched between her former BBC Radio 2 colleagues Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo.

Zoe’s Afternoon Ball will begin on Monday 7 September and will be Zoe’s first daily radio program since she left BBC Radio 2 Breakfast. The show will include guests, listener conversations and Friday’s episode of “Something for the Weekend.”

Zoe said: “I missed it and felt like now was the time to start a new chapter with Greatest Hits Radio.”

Gary Stein, audio director at Bauer Media Audio UK, said Zoe decided to join the station because of her connection with the audience and interest in music.

In addition to the weekday show, Zoe will continue to host the Dig It podcast with Joe Whiley.

The schedule changes also include a new Saturday program for Kate Thornton, who will remain on UK Pop 40 on Sundays. Claire Sturgess will host the weekend breakfast show on Greatest Hits Radio from 6am to 9am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Kate said: “Zoe is an incredible competitor, an incredible broadcaster and a great friend.”

Greatest Hits Radio Chief Content Officer Andy Ashton said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Zoe to the Greatest Hits Radio family. The whole team is buzzing about having another world-class broadcaster be part of our daytime program every weekday.

“Zoe and the team are already working on the new show and we can’t wait to share it with everyone. The weekend of September 7 marks another big moment for Greatest Hits Radio as the whole country tunes in to hear Zoe perform her hit song in her first song!”
