Channel 5’s Riptide has all the best elements of a gripping drama: beautiful filming locations, a good cast and a central murder mystery.
Joe Joyner will star in the British-Australian psychological thriller, which airs this week. It previously aired in 2022.
It follows Kim Marsh’s drama The Imposter, which aired in 2025. The cast and crew also filmed in Australia. Both series were created Jason Herbison, who worked on Neighbors from 2013 to 2015.
And the similarities don’t end there… Here’s everything you need to know about the filming locations of the Channel thriller Riptide.

Where does Riptide take place?
Riptide takes place exactly where it was filmed – Victoria, Australia. Specifically, the metropolitan coastal city of Melbourne. It’s very close to the filming locations for Kim Marsh’s thriller The Imposter. And we will never get tired of looking at the stunning beaches and crashing waves…
The plot centers on newlyweds living downstairs. Their lives are turned upside down when their husband mysteriously disappears during the morning surf.
When Alison (Joe Joyner) marries self-made Australian Sean, she moves to the other side of the world to start a new life with him. But their perfect life is cut short when he disappears.
