MILWAUKEE — CBS NFL analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Romo performed poorly on field sobriety tests after he was pulled over while traveling south on Interstate 43 on Thursday, according to a Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. Sheriff’s officials said Romo was taken into custody, arrested and released.

His court appearance is scheduled for September 21.

Romo went to high school about 35 miles from Milwaukee in Burlington, Wisconsin.

CBS had no comment on the arrest.

Romo, 46, has been the lead game analyst for CBS’ NFL coverage since 2017 after making four Pro Bowl appearances during an NFL career that spanned from 2004 to 2016 and was spent entirely in Dallas.

He remains the Cowboys’ franchise leader in touchdown passes with 248. He held the franchise record for career passing yards (34,183) until Dak Prescott passed him last season.
