EXCLUSIVE: Sony LIV is diving deeper into the animated game.
The Indian streamer was slowly given the green light Legend of Karnaproduced by Sharad Devarajan and Jeevan J Kang and their production house Graphic India. The series, inspired by the Hindu epic Mahabharata, will debut on July 31.
Legend of Karna will follow Karna, the warrior from the Mahabharata, born of Kunti and the sun god Surya, but raised in the family of a charioteer. He has a gift with the bow that rivals the greatest warriors of his era, forcing him to compete in a grand tournament usually reserved only for kings and princes, changing the course of the empire forever.
According to the synopsis: “Crown king by the ambitious Prince Duryodhana, but rejected by a court that judges him by his supposed birth, Karna rises from the dust of a village workshop to the royal halls of Hastinapur. His journey is one of exceptional talent, unwavering devotion and a constant struggle against a world ruled by bloodline. As politics, prophecies and hidden truths converge, Karna must confront the conflict between the fate forced upon him and the legacy he strives to create.”

Devarajan is known for collaborating with the late Stan Lee and creating an Indian superhero series. Chakra – Invincible for Cartoon Network India in 2013. The Marvel creator’s influence on Devarajan was such that he was called the “Indian Stan Lee” in the past. His credits include the creation of a Netflix live-action film. Archives And Legend of Hanumanwhich became one of the highest rated series on Disney+ Hotstar. Devarajan also created the Indian Spider-Man character for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verseand teamed up with SS Rajamouli on Baahubali film franchises, control of games, publishing and digital media, and the creation of Prime Video series. Just recently we learned that it works with Adjustment Bureau writer and director George Nolfi on the 2011 Hindi and C version of the film Gladiator writer David Franzoni will turn his graphic novel about Alexander the Great into a scripted series with Starlings Television.
As for the Indian company Sony Pictures Networks Sony LIV, which is known for such originals as Rocket boys, Fraud And Freedom at midnightthe series joins other animated originals such as Jiyo Gopuda.
