Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke at length about family, values and the new generation at the Vishwa Mangalam Sabha held in Delhi. He said that in former times there was an era of obedience. When he himself was little, there were no questions about what his parents said. There was complete trust and respect in him. But now times have changed. Today’s new generation asks questions about everything and it has become necessary to explain the logic of everything to them.

Mohan Bhagwat said that today’s environment is heavily influenced by materialism and advertising. To get children out of this dilemma, they need to be given more attention and time. There should be an ongoing conversation with them. He said that there should not be depression in the house, but discussion and instead of orders there should be communication.

Expressing concern about today’s family life, he said that now conversations at home have practically stopped. The husband and wife come home tired from work, the children are also returning from school. After eating, everyone is busy with their mobile phones. He said that this is a wrong habit and children should be listened to carefully so that they can openly express their feelings.

Mohan Bhagwat also said that no matter how far a child goes in life or goes abroad, he always remembers his roots and family at some point. In such a situation, if a child comes home and asks a question, but the parents do not have an answer, then this will not be correct. Therefore, parents should also be aware.

He said that today’s generation does not obey mere words, they also carefully study the behavior of their elders. If the father is lying, the children will immediately catch it. Therefore, values come only through acquaintance, conversation and a good example. He advised staying in touch with relatives and taking children with you to expand their range of thinking.
