The Uttar Pradesh government has announced around 81,000 posts in the police department for recruitment year 2026-27. The recruitment process will be carried out in stages. Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) will publish notifications regarding various postings on its official website from time to time. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the recruitment process will be carried out in a completely fair, transparent and systematic manner. He said these recruitments would provide employment opportunities to a large number of youth and the police system in the state would also be strengthened.

According to the announcement, this recruitment will be made for many positions in the police department. These are expected to include constable, sub-inspector (SI), prison officer, radio operator, computer operator, clerk and other technical and administrative positions. However, judging by the posts, information about the posts will be given on the official website.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that this massive recruitment is being done to strengthen the Uttar Pradesh Police, increase police strength and improve law and order. He said this would provide new employment opportunities to the youth and help in building a modern policing system in the state.
On what basis will the selection take place?
The recruitment process will begin with the Computer Based Test (CBT). This will be an objective type exam which will include General Knowledge, Hindi, Reasoning Ability, Mental Ability,
Questions related to numerical abilities and current events may be asked. Candidates applying for the posts of Sub-Inspectors will be required to answer questions related to the law and the constitution.
Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for the Physical Standard Test (PST). The height and other important physical standards of the candidates will be checked. PST eligible candidates will be required to take the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). In this case, the physical fitness and physical capabilities of candidates will be tested through running and other physical activities.
Selection criteria will vary depending on the position and category. The final stage of the recruitment process will include document verification and medical examination to ensure candidates meet all eligibility requirements prior to appointment.
