BigBang gears up for 20th anniversary and milestone celebration in Seoul, Entertainment News

BigBang are preparing to celebrate two decades at the top of K-pop with a landmark celebration in Seoul.

The anniversary celebrations will begin on August 19th when Coupang Play will hold a free fan event called Coupang Play X BigBang 20th Anniversary X Han River Collaboration at the Water Light Stage in Yeouido Han River Park.

The one-day celebration promises a spectacular tribute to the band’s legacy. Fans will be treated to a DJ set reimagining the band’s biggest hits, as well as a career-spanning visual retrospective, showing the rise from trainees to global icons.

Organizers say the event is designed to allow audiences to “step inside” BigBang’s musical universe, with an emphasis on dynamic production and expansive visual storytelling.

By evening, the park will turn into a full-fledged multimedia spectacle. A special media art installation will bring the “BigBang Universe” to life with orchestral sounds and cinematic lighting, and the night will culminate with a drone show over the Han River and a fireworks finale.

Reservations will open on July 28 through the Coupang Play app, with entry limited to Coupang Wow members only and strict ID checks in place to prevent fraud.

The free event comes ahead of a massive new stadium tour that will take the band around the world for the first time since 2017.

G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung will kick off the tour with a three-day return to Goyang Stadium from August 21 to 23, before heading to Auckland, East Rutherford, Paris, London, Singapore, Sydney, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Osaka, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta and Kaohsiung.

The tour follows the trio’s high-profile reunion at Coachella 2026, where they finally took the stage after their originally scheduled 2020 performance was canceled due to the pandemic.

Their comeback comes after months of speculation about the group’s future, fueled by comments from G-Dragon during the finale of his Ubermensch tour in Seoul in late 2025.

Taeyang and Daesung joined him for a surprise mini-set, performing Home Sweet Home, We Like 2 Party, and Fool of Tears.

Since debuting under YG Entertainment in 2006, BigBang has shaped the global trajectory of K-pop with hits such as Lie, Last Farewell and Bang Bang Bang, building a global fan base.
