Struggler and Congress member Vinesh Phogat criticized the lathi charge against students on July 20.
Sharing the post on social media platform X, he raised questions about the action and expressed support for the students.
Vinesh Phogat wrote: “Students of Jantar Mantar They were democratically defending their rights, but the photographs that appeared on July 20 alarmed them.”
He said that when the country’s students took to the streets for their future, rights and dreams, they had to face fear and violence instead of respect.
He alleged that the female students also misbehaved and degraded them.
Vinesh Phogat said, “At the end of the day, from whom should these students seek justice? Those on whose shoulders the responsibility for their safety lies, or those in whose hands the power lies? The whole country is with you in this fight for rights. But I also want to make a request to all of you who do not stray from the path of non-violence at any cost.”
He said it is possible that efforts will be made to distract, defame or weaken the movement, but the greatest strength of the students is their patience, discipline and peaceful struggle.
He concluded by saying that he was confident that the students would fight and win.
Students have been protesting at Jantar Mantar for the past one month due to NEET-UG paper leakage.
Protesters are demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In support of this demand, Sonam Wangchuck has been fasting for the past 26 days.
With this demand, the students called for a parliamentary march on the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament, i.e. July 20th. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police resorted to strikes to stop the protesters. As a result of this action, many students were injured.
