UPDATED with new trailer: Ahead of Zach Cregger’s appearance at Comic-Con Hall H today, Sony released a new trailer resident Evil, Weapon The helmer’s take on the iconic video game and six-film franchise that began back in 2002.

That’s because the new film, produced by Columbia Pictures and Constantin Film in association with TriStar Pictures, is set to hit theaters on September 18th.

The new image features Brian (Austin Abrams), a medical courier en route to Raccoon City General Hospital, who finds himself unwittingly in an intense, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, terrifying night collapses into chaos around him. The film also stars Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser.

Cregger co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten.

PREVIOUSLY, April 30: Sony released the first teaser trailer for its game resident Evil movie from Weapon And Barbarian helmer Zach Cregger, which had an indoor-only screening at CinemaCon earlier this month.

In the trailer, star Austin Abrams makes his way through a snowy night to a dark, empty house. According to him, he had a problem on the road and wanted to use the phone. Calling his girlfriend from inside, he says, “Something’s happened,” he’s in a “seriously shitty situation,” and “we might not be able to talk to each other anymore.”

Later we hear the creatures screeching and see one large creature that looks like Stellan Skarsgård’s Baron Vladimir Harkonnen from Denis Villeneuve’s film. Dune movies, as well as footage of bloody zombies, an overturned car, bodies falling and bloody exploding on a snowy street, and much more.

Abrams’ character is Brian, a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in a non-stop race for survival when one fateful, terrifying night collapses into chaos around him. This film will be the last film adaptation resident Evilthe popular horror video game series from Capcom that has grown into one of the highest-grossing video game film franchises of all time.

Speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Cregger said the film is a “big, scary adventure” that he hopes will be “true to the spirit of the games.”

According to him, compared to his past films, his take on resident Evil there will be “no narrative acrobatics, time jumps or disorienting chapters.” Rather, viewers will be “trapped with the protagonist as he journeys on foot through a world hell-bent on destroying them.”

Launched in 1996, resident Evil The video game franchise centers on the outbreak of a deadly virus linked to the shadowy corporation Umbrella.

Milla Jovovich led the original six-film series, which launched in 2002 and generated more than $1.2 billion in global box office receipts. Sony has recently returned to the world resident Evil with a 2021 reboot led by Johannes Roberts Welcome to Raccoon City.

Coming out Weapon – critical and commercial success for Warner Bros., which earned Amy Madigan an Oscar and grossed over $269 million worldwide – Cregger directed new film resident Evil from a script co-written by Shay Hatten. Konstantin Film produced the film and co-financed it. The cast also includes Zach Cherry, Kali Reis and Paul Walter Hauser. Producers were Robert Kulzer, Cregger, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan and Assad Qizilbash. Executive producers are Oliver Berben, Victor Hadida, Richard Wright and Robert Bernacchi.
