Eleven to start
In this third meeting of the summer, Ian Cathro still has to cope without several key elements of his group, such as the globalists, Ben Auld and Augustine Boakye, or even without the injured ones, such as Chico Lamba and Mahmoud Jaber. Thus, the Greens coach relies on the same defense as in the match against Servette, but prefers to start with Thierno Ballo in the absence of Zuriko Davitashvili and Lukas Stassen.
XI: Larsoneur – Ferreira, Le Cardinal, Nair, Pedro – Bernauer, Chongwai, Breum – Ballo, Duffus, Cardona.
First period
Facing the Scots, who had the advantage in preparation, the Greens expected a difficult start to the match. However, the first big chance of the game was theirs. In an ideal position, Jakob Breum missed the target. A great opportunity that I immediately regretted! At the same time, the Rangers received a severe penalty, which they hastened to implement. (Rangers – ASSE 1:0, 3e). In a packed stadium, the Greens didn’t let that opposite scenario get them down. If the bar saved them (12th place), then the rest of the chances of the first period were theirs. Especially for Jakob Breum, who faced the Scottish goalkeeper first (16th). However, the third option proved correct for the Dane, who took advantage of excellent work from Thierno Ballo to equalize. (Rangers 1-1 ASSE, 37e). The par score at the break was then deserved!

Next changes
From the beginning of the second half, Jan Katro replaced two of his players. Sohaib Nair and Thierno Ballo were replaced by Nathan Kasia Nkondo and Adam Baallal. For the remainder of the second act, the Greens coach brought in Luan Gadegbeka, as well as some very young players, some of whom were just discovering the professional side, such as Nathan Mouton and Lucas Reynaud.
Line-up in the last 20 minutes: Larsoneur, Stojkovic, Mouton, Kasia, Teyol, Gadegbeku, Depalle, Baallal, Reynaud, Moulin, Luten Zide.
Second period
The pace slowed down a bit once the restart began between the two teams in full summer preparation. Despite the advantage in this regard of the Scots, who will resume the championship in about ten days, the “greens” did not flinch. Still very serious after the emergence of Saint-Etienne’s youth team, some of whose members had even survived their first professional career, Jan Cathreau’s men only broke down late in the match, conceding a second penalty shortly before the end of the match. (Rangers 2-1 ASSE, 88e). Before this, Noah Moulin and Medhi Lutin Zidi stood out because their attempts were in vain.
Continuation
It’s time for the preparatory course for the greens, who will head to Divon-les-Bains at the end of the week. They will then play the last two matches of their preparation: first against Lausanne, then against Venice. Two matches that will be watched on ASSE.TV!
