Shai Hope | West Indies Captain: (On what it means to win the final ODI) Fighting is something we’ve shown quite a lot in this series and it’s great to get a win in the last one. Unfortunately, the score did not become 3:2 in our favor, but sometimes this happens. (About the lessons) A little more consistency, well, a lot more consistency. Something that we’ve been missing in the last few episodes, I think, from a holistic standpoint. Sometimes when we play well, we struggle a little with the bat and vice versa. So most of the time it’s about playing that full game. Beyond that, it’s about having the same intentions with both bat and ball and finding ways to win at crucial times in the game. (On the defining difference between both teams) I would say that I have captured these points. There were some very, very key moments in a couple of games in Guyana where our batters weren’t able to capitalize on some of the starts that we had. Yes, difficult conditions, but that’s what we have to do here in international cricket. When you encounter difficulties, you need to find a way to overcome them. And, as I said, these decisive moments, the last game. We’re going to find a catch, but there’s always a way out. We could probably also bowl a little more with the bat to give our bowlers a little more cushion. So, there are so many areas of the game that you can look at. But, you know, we will always look at one moment, but, nevertheless, in decisive moments of the game we need to be able to understand much more and be more consistent in this. (How can you get more wins for the West Indian public?) To be honest, we are trying. I think something that we don’t see is that the guys put in a lot of work behind the scenes. You know, the schedule is very tight. When we travel, sometimes we travel and the next morning we end up surfing the web trying to make those little changes. So the guys work hard, the main thing is to be able to perform when the going gets tough. You know, I think that’s the key for us. We have the capabilities, the guys have the skill set. We can all play cricket, but it’s about doing it more consistently when pressure situations arise, and they’re right. But yeah, we’ll get there, man, we’ll get there.
