Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram are down this morning as thousands of users around the world report problems.
Thousands of users are encountering an error message when trying to log into the desktop version of Facebook.
The error reads: “Account is temporarily unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a problem with the site. We expect the issue to be resolved soon. Please try again in a few minutes.”

The DownDetector website, an online platform that provides real-time information on the status of various websites, showed a spike in messages from Facebook users just before 9am on Sunday. The site also shows a spike in reports for Facebook Messenger and Instagram on Sunday morning.
Both platforms are owned by social media giant Meta.
The issues appear to be affecting users around the world, but do not appear to be affecting all platforms.
Instagram users are reporting problems accessing their feed and the platform’s app, while Facebook users are reporting problems with the desktop version of the platform. Almost 60 percent of the issues reported on Facebook this morning are related to the web version of the platform.
Facebook users report that they can use the platform in the app, but not in the desktop version.
Instagram users reported receiving the following error message: “Sorry, something went wrong. We are working to fix it as soon as we can.”
“Facebook loads on the phone, but not on the laptop. I keep getting messages that the account is temporarily unavailable, etc… I work on the phone, not on the laptop,” one user said.
“Yes, this is happening to me here in the UK, I can’t access the desktop version. Any ideas when this might be resolved?” wrote another.
A Reddit user commented: “The website isn’t working for me either, but the mobile app is still working. Unfortunately, I also can’t use the calling feature on messenger. I’m being told that my app is out of date, but I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, but I still get the same error.”
It is unclear when the problem will be resolved.
