The very next day i.e. 20th July (Monday), the West Zone team for the upcoming 2026 Duleep Trophy tournament was announced. Indian batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad has been named Western Zone captain. And left-arm all-rounder Shams Mulani was appointed vice-captain.
The composition of the team was announced after the meeting of the zonal selection committee. The tournament will take place from August 23 to September 10.
