Charles Leclerc surprisingly avoided joining Lewis Hamilton as Belgian Grand Prix stewards handed him a five-second penalty.
Hamilton was initially penalized for colliding with former Mercedes teammate Hamilton on the first lap at the Les Combes chicane.
A few laps later, McLaren driver Oscar Piastri was attempting to overtake Leclerc at the end of Kemmel Street and the entrance to Les Combes.
When Piastri was almost there, Leclerc seemed to move slightly, without going beyond the width of the car, as required by driving regulations.
This caused the two cars to collide and part of the McLaren’s floor was torn off.
However, after an investigation, stewards concluded that the incident did not warrant punishment, much to the surprise of fans. Sky Sport F1 co-commentator Martin Brundle, who believed it deserved sanctions.
